I feel like most of what I see out there about meal planning and meal prep seems like professional chefs with a perfectly photo’d organized fridge of all their meals already cooked for the entire week. I don’t know about you, but the idea of trying to do all of THAT every week causes me MORE stress! The whole purpose of meal prep is to make your week SIMPLER.
Getting Started with Meal Prep
Before you get started, I want you to remind yourself the reason you want to meal prep: To SIMPLIFY your week. You’re not doing it to lose weight, to try to be perfect or have an Instagram-ready refrigerator. You’re doing it so that you can spend more time doing what you love in the middle of the week, like playing with the kids when you come home from work. So that you don’t have the stress of “what’s for dinner?” every day. So that you can feel less flustered, more organized, and get your shit done!
If you remind yourself of this every time you begin, you’ll be able to more easily see what’s going to actually make this a reality. You’ll know what would make your life more difficult and what you can do to make your week easier. The following hacks are ideas, but ultimately you need to do what works best for you and your family!
